Description
This malt yeast agar petri dish comes ready to use with a light malt extract and yeast agar recipe. Each dish is sterile packed per piece. Therefore, you can open one plate at a time and keep the rest clean.
What Is an Agar Petri Dish Used For?
Growers use an agar petri dish to start, clean up and store mushroom cultures. For example, you can place spores, a tissue sample or a drop of liquid culture on the agar. Then the mycelium grows across the surface. Because you can see every bit of growth, you can spot contamination early. As a result, you can transfer only the cleanest mycelium to a fresh plate.
How to Use Your Agar Petri Dish
- First, clean your workspace and wear nitrile gloves.
- Next, open the lid just far enough to add spores, tissue or culture.
- Then seal the edge with Parafilm.
- After that, keep the plate at room temperature and check it daily.
- Finally, transfer clean growth to grain or a liquid culture vial.
Tips for Clean Agar Work
Work in still air or in front of a flowhood. In addition, label each plate with the strain and date. Store unused plates sealed in a cool, dark place. Need more plates? Then choose the 10-pack of malt extract agar plates.
