What is the 3B Unicorn bag used for?
The 5 micron filter allows more gas exchange than a spawn bag, which is what mycelium needs during bulk colonization and fruiting. Mix colonized grain spawn with a coir-vermiculite substrate, seal the bag, and let it colonize. Prefer a ready-made mix? See our sterilized substrate.
For grain spawn and sterile work, choose a bag with a finer 0.2 micron filter such as the 3T Unicorn bag or the 10T with injection port. Need more volume? The XLS-B Unicorn bag (60 x 24 cm) holds more substrate.

Close the bag above the filter patch with an impulse sealer for an airtight seal.
